Level 5 Extended Diploma in Law

Modules

To achieve Level 5 Extended Diploma in Law learners must achieve 240 credits in total.

All Units are mandatory

Unit 1 Contract Law

1. Understand the rules that govern the content of a contract.
2. Understand the vitiating elements that may affect the validity of a contract.
3. Understand how a contract can be discharged.

Unit 2 Criminal Law

1. Understand aims and general principles of criminal law.
2. Understand the elements of the different offences against a person.
3. Understand property offences.

Unit 3 Legal Methods

1. Understand the sources of law.
2. Understand the principles of legal interpretation.

Unit 4 Public Law

1. Understand the features of the UK constitution. 
2. Understand the meaning and consequences of separation of powers.
3. Understand the composition and operation of the legislature and the UK governments.

Unit 5 Equity and Trust

1. Understand historical events leading to the development and nature of Equity.
2. Understand the requirements for the creation of valid trusts.

Unit 6 EU Law

1. Understand the rationale for the European union’s creation.
2. Understand the institutions of the European Union
3. Understand how European Union laws are enforced.

Unit 7 Equity and Trusts

1. Understand historical events leading to the development and nature of Equity.
2. Understand the requirements for the creation of valid trusts.
3. Understand the concept of the beneficiary principle and exceptions.

Unit 8 EU Law

1. Understand the rationale for the European union’s creation. 
2. Understand the institutions of the European Union.
3. Understand how European Union laws are enforced.

Unit 9 Land Law

1. Understand the nature of interests in real property.
2. Understand the concept and application of proprietary estoppel
3. Understand the nature and purpose of easements.

Unit 10 Law of Tort

1. Understand the nature and purpose of liability in tort.
2. Understand the duty of care for the purpose of establishing liability in tort.
3. Understand the nature of employers’ and occupiers’ liability

Entry Requirements

• To study a Level 5 Extended Diploma in Law learner must be aged of 18 and above.
• Relevant Level 3 Diploma qualification or equivalent qualification.

Average completion timeframe (Course Duration)

• The average time it takes our learners to complete the course is 10- 13 months.
• Learners are granted a maximum of two years’ access to complete the course from the date of enrolment.
