Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management (OTHM)

Modules

The Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management consists of 6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120.

Unit 1 : Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care 

1. Be able to plan for their progression as a health and social care manager.
2. Be able to develop own skills and understanding in relation to working with others in health and social care practice.

Unit 2 : Managing Quality in Health and Social Care Settings 

1. Understand perspectives of quality in health and social care services.
2. Understand the efficacy of systems, policies and procedures in health and social care services.

Unit 3 : Principles of Leadership and Management 

1. Understand theories of leadership and management relevant to the health and social care sector.
2. Understand the development and effectiveness of teams in the health and social care sector.

Unit 4 : Health and Safety in Health and Social Care Settings 

1. Understand how health and safety legislation is implemented in health and social care settings.
2. Understand the role of risk assessment in health and social care service provision.

Unit 5 : Resource Management in Health and Social Care 

1. Understand factors involved in human resource planning in health and social care organisations.
2. Understand recruitment and retention aspects in health and social care.

Unit 6 : Research Methods for Healthcare Professionals

1. Understand the relevance of research within health and social care contexts.
2. Understand research approaches in health care contexts.

Entry Requirements

• Relevant NQF/QCF/RQF Level 5 diploma or equivalent overseas qualification as recognised by UK NARIC
• Learner must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course

• Assessment is via assignment submission only.
• No Exams

Average completion timeframe

• The average time it takes our learners to complete the course is 6- 9 months.
• Learners are granted a maximum of two years’ access to complete the course from the date of enrolment.

Progression – Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management OTHM

Successful completion of the qualification allows learners to progress in several ways:

1. Higher Education

• A master’s degree, such as an MBA or MSc in Health and Social Care Management at a recognised UK or international university.
• Postgraduate qualifications in related fields such as public health, social work, or healthcare administration are also acceptable.
• Doctorate-level study (PhD or DBA), depending on university entry requirements.
